2011 One Loft Race Summary
Updated - November 24, 2011
I entered quite a few birds to one loft races this year and it will be quite an interesting and exciting year - and potentially very expensive if I don't win some money back in the races!!! One reason I sent more birds out is that I am not flying YB's this year due to family vacations, hunting trips and business travel conflicting with the YB season. I am having a difficult time keeping track of all the races so I thought I would put a table together to allow me to keep track of the races as well as the results. So here is the table I put together to track the races/birds and I thought it would also be a better way of presenting my results on my website. I have also put some metrics that I use to evaluate my loft/birds performance in the races. As some people already know, I use numbers/metrics to evaluate all my birds in the One Loft Races so you can see some of the metrics I use in those evaluations on this page. Also, I am guessing on the dates for some of these races as a couple races haven't announced the race dates. The Sun City races will not be tracked on this page, but they will be tracked on my Sun City Page. I will link pedigrees (link is on the birds position-some won't be the exact birds pedigree, but to the pair or a full sibling as I may not have made up that birds pedigree) to the birds that win money on the races that have money. As I often say, "Show Me The Money" when people talk of their success in one loft races - everyone can show good results on training tosses, but the only races that really matter are the money races. Also, I will link (link is on race name!) to the actual result on the specific One Loft Races' website.
NOTE (10/10/11): I have had a few questions about the information below and what it all means. Email me if you want and I will be happy to explain it to you. I have highlighted some numbers so you can see that green is good and red is bad as far as NRPL's performance.

| +Someone told me my numbers were wrong on here for Sierra. I guess Sierra pulls down the lost birds from the website until they hit a certain spot training so the total showing up on their website doesn't include birds lost loft flying or in the early training tosses. The person told me the correct number is closer to 730 so I am using that number. I see nothing wrong with what Sierra is doing so I am not complaining about that, but I also want to compare apples to apples in my personal evaluation of my bird's performances so I am using the 730 number.
*This number represents NRPL % of Entries minus % of NRPL Birds in Top 100. This is a key evaluation number for me to look at in terms of how well all my entries are doing in relation to the rest of the birds in the race. I may win the race, but if that is the only bird I have in the Top 100 and I entered 5% of the birds in the race then I am not doing very well as a loft. I would just have a good bird, which is nice to have of course, but my goals are to have a high percentage of birds doing well to truly evaluate my breeding efforts. Negative numbers mean I am not doing well. Positive numbers mean I am doing well.
**Note: NRPL 1040 (hit by plane); NRPL 1044 (2 broken legs); NRPL 1064 (hurt wing) - I have had bad luck in the AGN this year so far as I have had 3 birds has 'issues' so far. Technically, I would say I have truly only lost 2 birds as 3 of the 5 lost birds have come home or NRPL 1040 was hit by a plane. I try to keep track of this information as I won't judge the pairs these birds were out of quite as harshly when I evaluate my pairs.
Note: The NRPL Total Entry includes all NRPL banded birds whether they were entered by NRPL or another loft.
Updated - July 27, 2011
The AIC race has added some very interesting videos explaining what they are doing down there in South Carolina and also showing everyone where the birds are at in the moult and the loft. I think these guys are doing a great job so far and wish them well in their desire to run the best one loft race in the US. These videos certainly help them in showing the world they are taking this very serious and working hard. The birds do look very healthy and the moult is exactly where you would expect the birds to be. I was lucky enough to have them show on the video NRPL 1068 - that bird is out of my Aarden Hen when mated to Jeffrey. The bird looks great! You can see the videos here: AIC Race Videos
Updated - April 20, 2011
Here are the races that I plan on entering in 2011. As the year goes on I will update how I did in them. As I often say, I try to only show results with money attached to them and not reference any training tosses. I will only show pedigrees on birds that have won money. Also, my good friend Frank McLaughlin and I were talking about publicizing results others have achieved with birds from our lofts. He shared with me his his philosphy regarding showing results others have had with his pigeons - "Your Pigeons - Your Results. If you want to tell people that some of the blood is mine, I would appreciate it, but I will not be advertising YOUR results." I really like that approach and will adopt that for my website going forward.
